Saad to meet with the Oilers

Per Edmonton Sports Talk’s Tom Gazzola, the Edmonton Oilers will introduce a new alternate jersey for the 2025-26 season.
Gazzola, who previously worked for Oilers TV for eight years and still has connections within the organization, tweeted on Thursday that the Oilers’ new threads will create a buzz. On Friday’s edition of The Oil Stream podcast, Gazzola provided more details on the jersey design.
“[The Oilers] are going to have a third jersey next year,” Gazzola confirmed to co-host Dustin Nielson on Friday. “Yes [I think fans will love it]. I think so. I saw it, and I was like, ‘Woah, that looks awesome.’ But after it sunk it and I made sure I had a mental image seared into my brain, I was like, ‘There are going to be fans that hate it,’ until they look at it again, and see it on the ice.”
When Fanatics replaced Adidas as the official NHL on-ice outfitters this past June, the Oilers were one of 13 clubs that opted not to have a third jersey in 2024-25. Given the popularity of jerseys in a hockey-mad city like Edmonton, it should come as no surprise that the Oilers will be adding a new look as well.
The Oilers have worn five different alternate jerseys since 2001-02, including the Todd McFarlane-designed navy blue and silver jersey (2001-02 to 2006-07), classic royal blue and orange jersey (2008-09), navy blue and copper RBK Edge jersey (2009-10 to 2011-12), WHA-inspired orange jersey (2015-16 to 2016-17) and the two-tone ADIZERO jersey (2019-20 to 2023-24). Additionally, the Oilers have had two Reverse Retro jerseys in 2020-21 and 2022-23, which were uniquely distinct jerseys that incorporated inverted and new colours to previous designs.
