Edmonton Oilers prospect Raphael Lavoie was named AHL Player of the Week for October 23-29 on Monday.
Lavoie tallied goals and six points in three games last week, as the Bakersfield Condors went 3-0-0. The 23-year-old scored a pair of power-play goals in a 5-1 win come-from-behind win over the Henderson Silver Knights at Mechanics Bank Arena on October 24.
Lavoie then set up James Hamblin game-winning goal early in the third period, en route to a 4-1 victory over the Tucson Roadrunners on Friday. The Chambly, Quebec native followed that up with a Gordie Howe hat trick, including two goals, an assist and a fight, to sweep the two-game series with the Roadrunners on the road with a 5-1 win.
Selected 38th overall in 2019, Lavoie has yet to make his debut. But given how well he has performed early on this season, and the Oilers need for more depth scoring, Lavoie has earned the opportunity to at least get a look at the highest level.
The Oilers managed to slide Lavoie through waivers prior to the season. When he eventually gets recalled, Lavoie could be a permanent roster player going forward.
